Athletics is a major sports in the Summer term for boys and girls.

Coaches

We have committed and qualified coaches across all events. The College employs a professional sprints and hurdles coach. Hurst also invites external coaches to run CPD sessions for our coaches and athletes.

Teams

Hurst runs three teams for Boys and three teams for Girls (Juniors, Inters & Seniors).

Fixtures and Tournaments

Fixtures take place on Saturdays and also midweek. We compete in meets against Cranleigh, Tonbridge and Brighton College, amongst others.

Many of our Athletes compete in the Sussex Schools competition and a number go on to compete at England Schools.

Our Junior teams also compete in the Sussex Track and Field Cup.

Cricket is the major sport for boys in the Summer term.

Coaches

We have a number of fully qualified ECB Cricket coaches who assist all team coaches, three are qualified to level 2, four to level 3 and one at level 4.

Teams

We run the following teams: four Seniors (A-D), three U15 (A-C), three U14 (A-C).

Fixtures and tournaments

Fixtures take place every Saturday and also mid-week. We also compete in block fixtures against Whitgift, RGS Guildford and Eastbourne College, amongst others.

Our 1st XI participate in the National Schools' T20 tournament and the Langdale Trophy, which is the Sussex Schools T20 competition.

Our U15A team compete in the Blackshaw Bowl Sussex Schools T20 competition, and our U14A team in the Sussex Lord Taverner's T20 competition.

Tours and pre-season

Tours are run on a cycle with the other major sports and include national and overseas destinations. Previous tours include: Cape Town 2014, Dubai 2009, Malta 2007, India 2002.

Pre-season cricket nets are run throughout the winter months, with pre-season training and fixtures in the weeks leading into the Summer term.

Football

Football is a minor sport for boys in the Michaelmas and Lent terms.

Matches are normally played during the week, against schools such as Cranleigh, Lancing and Tonbridge, so that our boys are free to play in the major sports fixtures which take place on Saturdays.

Golf is a minor sport across all three terms for boys and girls.

Our Golf team play against schools such as Wellington, Eton and Radley, and also compete in the HMC Foursomes competition.

Home fixtures are played on the beautiful Mannings Heath Waterfall Course.

Matches are played every Saturday, with some during the week. We compete in full block fixtures against Whitgift, Tonbridge and Eastbourne College.

Our 1st XI participate in the National Schools Competition and the Sussex Knockout Cup.

The U16A and U14A teams compete in the National Schools Competition, and the U15A in the Sussex Cup.

Tours are run on a cycle with the other major sports and include national and overseas destinations. Previous tours include: Singapore, Australia and Malaysia 2014, Germany and Holland 2011, South Africa 2008.

Pre-season training takes place during the Michaelmas term and includes indoor and outdoor sessions.

Indoor Hockey is played from U14 to Seniors between September and December. We take part in the National Indoor Competition, hosting county and regional rounds.

Netball is the major sport for girls in the Lent term.

Netball Professional: Lorraine Kowalewska (Ex-Surrey Storm and Celtic Dragons)

Coaches

We have a number of Netball England qualified coaches who assist our team coaches, four are qualified to level 2 and one at level 3. We also have eight of our own qualified umpires.

Teams

We run the following teams; four senior teams (A-D), three U16 (A-C), four U15 (A-D), five U14 (A-D).

Fixtures and tournaments

Matches are played every Saturday with extra fixtures arranged mid-week. We compete in full block fixtures against Cranleigh, Wellington and Brighton College, amongst others.

Our 1st XI compete in the National Schools competition, the Independent Schools National Netball Cup, the Sussex Independent Schools Netball Association Tournament (SISNA) and the Sussex Knockout Cup.

The U16A and U14A teams particpate in the Sussex Knockout Cup, SISNA and National Schools, while the U15A compete in SISNA and the Independent Schools National Netball Cup.

Tours and pre-season

Tours are run on a cycle with the other major sports and include national and overseas destinations. Previous tours include; Barbados 2015, 2012, 2010.

Pre-seaon Netball runs throughout the Michaelmas term as teams prepare for their cup competitions. Our A teams also take part in the Brighton Midweek Netball League throughout the year.

We have a number of fully qualified RFU coaches who assist all team coaches. Ten are level 2 qualified and one is level 3.

Teams

We run the following teams: three Seniors (A-C), two U16 (A-C), three U15 (A-C), three U14 (A-C).

Fixtures and tournaments

Matches are played every Saturday with cup matches and extra fixtures during the week. We compete in full block fixtures against, St John's Leatherhead, Craneigh and Brighton College, amongst others.

Our 1st XV and U15A teams participate in the NatWest Cup competition.

Our U16A, U15A and U14A teams take part in the Sussex Cup Competitions.

Tours and pre-season

Tours are run on a cycle with other major sports and include national and overseas destinations. Previous tours include; Biarritz 2013, Italy 2010, Ireland 2008, South America 2007.

Pre-season Rugby takes place during the Summer term and during the Summer holidays. Currently, the U15 squad travel to France for a week-long training camp at the end of the Summer.

Swimming is a minor sport in the Summer term.

Our Swimming team compete regularly at weekends and midweek against schools such as Cranleigh and Charterhouse.

Our team trains during the first two terms when swimmers are not taking part in the major sports.

Our Swimming squad have a strong repuatation across Sussex through their successes at the Sussex Cu, and this year our girls' medley relay team achieved 5th place in the UK as part of the prestigious Bath Cup.

Tennis is minor sport in the Summer term.

Our Tennis players have the opportunity to train during the Winter months when they are not competing in the major sports.

Our teams play fixtures against strong opposition such as Lancing and Bede's, and compete in the Aegon Schools Cup.

This year, our U14 girls were crowned Sussex Cup Champions.
